I need to buy a gift btl of something good and am not much of a whiskey drinker. if forced to it would probably be Jamison,Canadian rye, So-Co or crown. can't see spending big bucks for a blended scotch like Johnny blue. usually keep a btl of 12 y/o Glenmorangie single malt for the good company. any suggestions?

If he serves Glenmorangie, Then no, Walker is not going to be considered "good" scotch.

My favorite "every day" scotch is Black Grouse. Famous Grouse is a close second for when I want something a little less smoky. But they are blended.

Talisker is a good single malt and would look more impressive in the bottle but the Black Grouse tastes just as good.
