A friend of mine went to Alaska last month. He caught a bunch of Halibut and salmon. He took a bunch of fillets(what they did not eat while there) to a processor to get them packed, flash frozen, and shipped to him here in Fl.
In a nutshell, they could only take XX number of pounds of extra weight on the plane back, so that is the reason they paid a processor to ship them directly to him
Well here is what happened. He paid the processor for 57 pounds of meat to be shipped from them to his door in Inverness.
So the other day the box arrives from FedEx. He opens the box, grabs the bags of fish, and throws them in the freezer, as they were partially thawed. He didn't pay a lot of attention, but thought something wasnt quite right, like damn that was a lot of money for that bit of fish.
So he gets to looking at the bill and it says he paid for like 10 pounds of packing dry ice...Funny, no dry ice in the box. Starts thinking, hmmm let me go look at the bags of fillets. Wow, that doesnt look like 57 pounds to me..Hmmm
He goes and gets a scale.....Total weight is 30 pounds. He got screwed.
So first thing he does is get on the horn with the processor in AK. They will check into it and get back to him...
Sure enough, the fedex bill (that the processor gets) clearly states that it left the processor weighing at 57 pounds, and when it left the FedEx hub in Memphis it weighed a whopping 30 pounds
Someone working for fedex got him for over 25 pounds of meat on his dollar. Needless to say he is pissed. They now have a claim against FedEx.
He also said he looked at the box it came in and it was clearly re taped
that bites. Ain't nothing worse than a thief
That sucks.
hope something gets done about it!
