So yesterday morning, my wife called me while I was at camp very early AM to tell me our girl dog was not doing well. She was rigid and whimpering. Wife tried to pick her up and she peed all over her. She took her to the emergency after hours/weekend vet office, being it was a Sunday. They ran blood-work on her which came back fine, and all her vitals were fine except for a slight temp. The dr there thinks it is a strained muscle or possibly something out of whack in her back, like a slipped or herniated disc (wiener dogs are prone to this). Gave her a shot of pain killer and sent her home.

I rushed home because I think of my dogs like I do a family member. I get home and she is pretty lethargic. She layed around all day and was very rigid and tense all day. We fell asleep with her next to us. Around 3AM I woke up to take a leak and she was still sitting in the same exact position she was in 5 hours earlier, with her head still up. I tried to pick her up to take her out and she just whimpered. Took her out and she just sat there. Had wife call emergency vet office and they said bring her in

So I get her in truck and drive her to vet at 3AM, me still 2/3 asleep. Same dr is there and I explained to her she has made no progress at all, worse if anything. She pooped yesterday, but none since and she wasn't drinking either. They felt her all over and still feel it is related to a spine/muscular issue, as she tensed up and cried when she touched her back. They gave her an IV and a shot of pain killer which caused her to barf up undigested food.
Back home around 4AM. She rested somewhat till the meds wore off. Then she got very tense and rigid again. Around 10 I took her out and she couldn't even stand up. I brought her in and put her on a blanket in the office. She peed and crapped all over herself and started a whimper like I have never heard in a dog before. I said screw this, got her loaded in the truck and off to our regular vet. I dropped her off as they wanted to keep her for observations and let dr see her. They called about an hour later and dr wants xrays as he also feels she did something to her back

Wife called 20 min ago and dog is stable, and now waiting for dr to call us back to see what they found....

Back from the vet....

According to xrays, she has 2 calcified discs in her spine. Weird as she is only 18 months old. She could have done something to hurt one of them putting her in the shape she is in now. I don't know much about this and will have to do some reading on this. They told us to keep her completely calm and no running or anything. Treat her with pain meds for 3 days and gauge her improvement. If she is not making drastic improvements, then we have to go to a doggie neurologist to get an MRI done on her spine to see the severity and go from there. All I see is $$$$$$ going into this, but she is our baby and have no choice
She did eat a bit and drink some, so that was encouraging.....
