saw a sign for beignets at the deep south bbq on fri and had no idea what they were. excuse my yankeeness, I do know what a grit is but whats a beignet?

deep-fried dough and sprinkled with confectioner's sugar.. its like a doughnut.

Yeah, but better! And there's just something about the ones in New Orleans, especially with a cup of chicory coffee! Makes a fresh Krispy Kreme seem like day old donut from 7-11.
