So I noticed the transfer case seal was leaking. So they tell me 4 hours labor and so on. Like 400 bucks. I go talk to the mechanic and tell him he's full of crap, so then he says ok 1.5 hours of labor. So now I'm down to 175 bucks.. guy comes in and says my transfer case is shot. 2700 dollars new tc and labor out the door. Used tc is 1562 bucks out the door.
I'm screwed qnd want to know if anyone knows where I can get a cheap used transfer case or anyone on here who does this kind of work. Any help would be appreciated. I can't work without my truck. Any info would help. Thx. For now I'm going to have thwm replace the seal and keep it parked in the driveway.
.. guy comes in and says my transfer case is shot. .
I would get a clarification on what this means before I did anything
There's play, the bearing I guess had play and rubbed on the casing and now it has play. So its either open it up and pay 1200 just in labor plus parts or 2700 for a whole new tc.
They said with that play and wear the new seal will last about a week. And leak again.
I'd tell them to seal it up and remove the front driveshaft. Run it in 2wd only until you can save up. The T-Case guts are only spinning when the front driveshaft is turning (which is all the time on your Titan, since it doesn't have manual hubs). Remove the front driveshaft and the guts of the t-case won't be spinning.
And this guy working on it is an asss. Telling me talking to me is wasting his time, time is money for him, either change thr tc or put the new seal on and have it leak again.
And they are changing the rediator for the 3rd time under warranty. I mean wtf. Its free but dam man. 3 radiators going. ?
