As some of yall saw, I built a small garden in my back yard. Its an 8x16 raised bed built out of landscape timbers
I planted it yesterday with various seeds. Today I come home this afternoon, and there are three squirrels in it digging, and they had done a number on it already
I threw some moth balls around it, which really works on keeping cats out of my yard. Tomorrow I am going to print a couple pics of Nacho and Carlos, and put them on stakes around the garden.
Any other tricks to keep critters out?
Next step is to sit on watch with my AR, but I don't want to do any time in the slide bar motel
Other than some sunflower seeds, I found the squirrels were burying something rather than digging something up but I had started plants atleast 4" tall. They knocked over 1 hot pepper and 1 scallion in their pursuits but nothing I couldn't fix by reburying the same day when I came home. Now that everything is up, no worries about the squirrels, now it is a damn mole and whatever bugs decide to try and chew my tomatoes this year.
I had the same problem with my garden and found the squirrels made good bow practice. gotta use old used mechanical heads for the larger diameter contact surface, even an old dull mech B.H. would cut em in 2. if you can hit squirrels, deer are a chip shot. or a pellet gun I supose. mix some human hair (from the barber shop) with the moth balls and chrysanthemums around the borders will help with insect control. Jerry Baker the tv gardener has some home remedies I'm sure.
This is funny.. yes you are allen. lol
I try man :tung
