More than likely the corn is from last season when it is infested with weevils. When we were feeding cattle, weevils were always present in the ear corn that we had crushed for feed, the later in the year, the more weevils we found. The same holds true for shelled corn, the older it is the more likely it will have weevils. Some corn is harder and more resistant to weevils but you never know what is in the bag that you just bought. The dust they create usually causes folks to sneeze and will trigger allergy issues. Slowly pouring the corn into a tub with a strong fan blowing across the work space will help eliminate some of the dust before you fill your feeders. It's a nasty job but will make the feeder work a lot better. Remember to stay up wind when you pour it out.
