There used to be several on Palmetto Pines Golf Course in Parrish, FL. Not even sure that course exists anymore. It was owned and run by the The Boys Club, and then a developer bought it. Those squirrels would come right up to you, but not let you touch them, just expecting a handout I guess.

still there. I see them all the time.

Has anyone else seen melanistic ones like this? It's the first non-normal color I've seen.

That is a cool looking fox squirrel. There is a place on the FWC site you can report where you saw it. At the end of the year they put out a report that has a map with all fox squirrel sightings.

Sounds like a good idea, I'll report it.

Yes. This color is quite common.

The FWC reporting is over. They did that survey for a year or so then closed it up. The report is on their website though.
