A really distant Grandpa of mine fought in the Third Seminole War and the Civil War in the 2nd Fl Cavalry. Pvt Henry Jackson Downing; he fought under John Dickson's command and was at the landing in Palatka when they sank the Columbine in the St. John's River. He later died in Jacksonville while still in the service of the Confederacy in a drowning accident. He's buried in a famly plot in Manatee County.

is he in the palmetto cemetary? there are a ton of confederates in a small cemetary in palmetto.
