You know what.. Im so sick of insurance ripoffs.. Ok so i lost my phone. Now i pay like 7 bucks a month.. Now you figure i had phones for like since 1996 ok. i never really did a claim. All i did was buy new ones cause i didnt want to deal with the ins company. NOW I KNOW WHY. ok lets figure. Lets go by my last contract. I had Verizon for about 2 years. So 24 months x 7 bucks a month is $168.00. Ok so i call the ins and say "ok bla bla bla and they say ok bla bla bla your co pay is $99.00... HAHAHAHAHA.. dam $168.00 + 99 bucks is 268.00. THEN THEY have the NERVE to say "ok sir you should receive your phone on monday.. OK ITS FREAKING FRIDAY.!!!! Next day? so i told them "Cancel my dam claim and give me my 99 bucks back, I could lose more money in work missed calls then it cost to go buy a dam phone brand new" So they said "ok sir we will re route your phone to come on saturday". WTF? I hate lying INS companies. Why should you have to pay a co pay on a dam phone. i mean ok 25 bucks i can understand maybe but 99 BUCKS. i mean its not a dam iphone!! or an IPAD!!

I never pay, and never will, cell phone insurance. As you mentioned, there is always a co-pay and when you add what you paid monthly is basically like buying a new phone. I had my service with Sprint for around 10 years now (although reception sucks in the woods) and I get to replace telephones every year as part of my contract (5 lines family voice/data plan, Android phones, everything included for $185.00 mo), so it makes no sense to me to get the insurance. I always keep one or two units I replace as backups and have them activate if needed, which usually is done within minutes.

I bought my phone (HTC Aria Android) through Wirefly.com and bought their insurance for $48/year. Dropped the phone and cracked the screen. Sent back for repairs (cost about $5 postage), used a $10 GoPhone for 2 weeks, got my phone back good as new, didn't cost me another dime.
