Why wear a dress to shoot? Try shorts and a t-shirt.

Man, wish I was that lucky. My little '96 Mazda B2300 I've been driving for 10 years may have finally bit the big one. Started running rough and idling high last week, and then overheated. The dang temp sensor was broken, but it was still registering ok on the gauge. Was hoping I caught it bfore any major damage done. Put new temp sensor on, then noticed it was leaking around the water pump and still idling rough. Don't have the time and tools I used to to fix it myself, so took it to my mechanic. Took a few years after moving here to find a good mechanic I can trust, and this guy is good and honest. Not the cheapest, but I know he tells it to me straight. Anyway, he found the water pump was leaking, and some plug wires were bad. Called and said he'd have it ready by 5pm. While in there I had them change the timing belt, too.

Then the bad news. At 4:45 he calls and says they got it back together, flushed and filled the radiator, starteed it and once it warmed up it started getting rough again, and they found a small leak at the head near the back of the block. Head gasket leaking exhaust into water jacket. He's gonna call me tomorrow with an estimate to fix it, but we don't know if the head is warped, cracked, etc. or if it's just the gasket. Hate to have him start tearing it down just to find it ain't worth fixing.

The little truck has been a good one for 10 years, sure did get my money's worth, but I am not in a position yet to get another good vehicle. But I can't afford to pay the guy to keep working on a lost cause. Thinking I better cut my losses and just junk it.
