ford mechanics or mechanics in general on here? i have a door on my supercab that wont open. dealership is telling me they cant fix the linkage, can only replace the whole mechanism. wondering if that is true. from the blow up of the parts diagram it almost looks like they are full of it. its a 2000 f150, they want $560 to fix it. normally i would do without the 4th door, but later this year that 4th door is going to come in real handy. they told me the parts to fix it run $260. all the experiences i have had with door linkages coming apart in fords or chevys has been in my work vans, and it is usually a 3 or 4 dollar piece of plastic that can be replaced in a few seconds. any help appreciated.
thanks

Here's my suggestion. Go on a ford truck forum and do some searching around for broken door or terms similar to that. Usually there are others who've had the same problem and there's usually a fix for it. You can also do a search for ford oem door parts and you can find the schematic of all the door parts. You can probably order the linkage by itself and then fix it yourself.
