I found this ring in my dads jewelry box. He was in the Georgia Natl guard for a few years back in the 50's. Not sure if its a military emblem or not.

I showed it to mom and she didn't recognize it

That's the emblem of the USA (Eagle with the shield). It's used on most military rings and even a VFW ring. Do a quick search for Army rings and you'll see what I mean. Is the top missing?
