They sure are. Last night I went to put my trash out and the were all over the handle. I got hit 5 time by those little SOB on my hand. The other place we have them is on the back porch. You can see them just walking around untill you walk out there and they start up your leg and bit.
what are the ones that are orange and black and when you stomp on them to kill them, they just flick you off and keep on? we got in to some of those at work last week. i had only really ever seen one at a time maybe a couple, there was a ton of them at this mobile home.
I think they are bull ants. When I was a kid my dad got into a nest of them and rip chuncks of skin off.

Sounds like a red velvet ant... AKA "cow killer"
