hey all, I am going to seek my "therapy' and give another quick update on my nephew and his condition.

Well my neice has the new place all set, ready for Kobe to come home. We are just waiting for him to finally be cleared by the docs, just begginning to wonder if it will ever happen. He does finally seem to be clear of all the complications that are directly from the lukemia and bone marrow transplant, and is so far 100% cancer free. Also something else that can be considered a positive is that the new MRI is showing that the brain damage is no longer spreading as far as his white matter or brain stem are concerned, also his frontal lobes seem to be giving signs that they may possibly regenerate some of that lost matter, and he could regain some of the function he has lost. The real downside with the brain damage is the damage to his brain stem, th docs say that the stem will not regenerate, and all your "unconscious" muscle activity is controlled from there. Things such as heart and lungs,,,, so if the damage to the stem spreads again, it could affect his heart and it just wont pump any more, it would be like its been unplugged. same for his lungs, which means he probably will never be able to come off the ventilator. But as far as motor functions and everything else, he may recover most function, which i guess is not really a great prospect to look forward to, if he is still on a vent.

The docs and nurses in the ICU ward he is in now, say they dont think he is there, he doesnt really respond to them at all, but anytime my neice, or one of her sisters, or any of us family members, talks to him he does respond, . Even his oncologist is saying he can see that he is responding and is aware of whats going on and whos around him more and more everytime he stops in to check on, or just visit Kobe.

What really sux is that the thing keeping him home from now is the fact that everytime the docs are about to release him he gets another infection or virus, or something along those lines. He has been good, and clear of any infections or viruses for a few days, then bam today he runs a fever, and his BP drops real low, they run cultures and tests, and he has another infection, or virus or something, i beleive they said sepsis. Its like what the He**.

One thing that is kind of cool, is the cancer support group up here that has been so great to my neice and Kobe, Basecamp, now there is a bank that is issueing a Visa card, that is , I guess "sponsoring" BaseCamp , I guess they are donating money for each card issued and used or whatever, and 2 of the 5 designs that they are offering on the card are the pictures of Kobe that they had on the BaseCamp billboards.
If you go to the Basecamp web site,,,,,,,,, www.BaseCamp.org there is a link to apply for the card that shows the prototype with his pic. I just thought that was kinda cool.
Shoot while your there, if you are able and feel the want, donate a little something to an awesome organization that goes above and beyond to help those who really need it, and help so many people thru unbeleivably tuff times and situations. I think there isa way you could make a donation earmarked for Kobe, or any other particular child, or just a general donation the group as a whole.

Well thans again for letting me get my "therapy" out and please keep all the good thoughts and prayers you have been having coming :toast:
