It's nice to see happily married folks who belong together and make each other happy. Happy Anniversary, Allen! Condolences to Mrs. Allen!
As for me and my first wife, we've been married for 23 years (coming up on 24). We have 2 anniversaries, the one where the US Embassy and S. Korea said we were married (9/4) after getting some paperwork approved, and 11/8 when we finally had a wedding. We have not officially celebrated an anniversary yet. Shortly after our wedding I brought her home some flowers and she got mad because I didn't buy them from the farmer's market and get the best price! I have not bought her a present since. Sure, if she wants or needs something I'll buy it for her or give her the money to go get it (if we have it). But as for buying a gift, wrapping it and surprising her, it ain't gonna happen. We had two wonderful kids together, best things that ever happened to me, and probably the only reason we were ever able to stay married. So while it may not be a love story for the ages, it's a lesson in tolerance and stubbornness, and that's better than nothing!
