Why do you want to shoot slugs anyway?
I understand they are a garden pest and it sucks to step on one in the driveway but shooting seems a little drastic...
if the $ is an issue. those premium sabot slug ammo can go app 3$ +/- a round. a smoothbore with a much less expensive rifled slug like the Remington slugger, can work well to maybe 75 yards depending on the shooter & sight set up. my rifled bbl has been collecting dust for years.
As much as it pains me to say this, Savage does offer a good bolt action rifled slug gun. Unbelievably they shoot extremely well, I have a buddy who has one and it shoots 1" groups at 100 yards without a problem. I witnessed him make a kill shot on a deer at about 130 yards...
Why does it pain you so much.
Thats were a riffled barrel pays, the over 100 yard shoot. Then you can use sabots
Because with the exception of the new Savage bolt action slugs guns, the old Savage 99's, the early Savage 24 Series Combination guns and early Savage/Fox SXS shotguns the rest of there product lines have always been cheap junk. Some swear by them, espcially the new triggers in there bolt action rifles and I admit they have made some huge improvements over the years, but just not very good quailty guns in my opinion.

😆 Well I thought it was funny. It sort of went over here like my "who's Norman" comment on the high blood pressure post :sleep
On another note... I have the single shot H&R Pardner break open 12ga that I'm getting a slug barrel for from them through their Barrel Accessory Program. Currently it's my door knocker/home first line defense gun backed up by my XDM 40.
