I'm looking for a good bolt action slug gun, 12 ga. rifled barrel, drilled and taped for scope. Who are the current manufactures of such? Browning, Remington, Mossberg, Ithaca, Winchester, Savage? There's been so many changes in gun manufacturers over the years that I just don't remember who the major players are today in the slug gun market. I do know I can not afford the fancy Tar Hunt set ups that I've heard about.
Thanks.

As much as it pains me to say this, Savage does offer a good bolt action rifled slug gun. Unbelievably they shoot extremely well, I have a buddy who has one and it shoots 1" groups at 100 yards without a problem. I witnessed him make a kill shot on a deer at about 130 yards...

best $ value imo, the Harrington & Richards, then New England Firearms (now the same company and owned by Remington) single shot beak open. you could find a Mossberg/maverick pump but the accuracy wouldn't be as good. pinning the bbl would help but you would never be able to change or remove the bbl. the bolt slug guns would probably be most accurate but cost more. I believe savage is the least expensive of those.

Why does it pain you so much.

Thats were a riffled barrel pays, the over 100 yard shoot. Then you can use sabots

Got one in a trade recently. Has the thick bull barrel. Still haven't put a scope on it, just haven't had the cash
