Nice, that's what my dad hunted with for years in upstate NY, 16 gauge 870 with plain 28" modified... He shot slugs through that same gun and killed a bunch of deer with it in the shotgun only areas of the state. Until around 2003 most (nearly 70%) of NYS was shotgun only for deer, now they have opened up almost 75% of the state to centerfire rifle, shotgun or archery due to the decreases in populations over the last 30 years.... Alot of old abandoned farm land to hunt up there...(FOR FREE)...

I can't see any pictures on the forum now due to the government server here at USCENTCOM, I'll have to re-visit the forum tonight.

I am headed home tonight and will post some pics of the 870 LW Special Field and the Wingmaster Magnum with Cantilver for you viewing pleasure...

Thank you guys for infos. I remember from my local wally they had 870 with complete cam. p stock, but 26in barrel for like 330 dollars. I was gonna buy that when I come back from the army, hoped for a price to go down but someone bought it.... I was very mad... lol...

I checked out dicks sporting good as well and they had some moss 500 for around 300 dollars with full camp stock and 28in barrels. They also had weatherly SA-08 pump shotgun with real nice wooden finish to it. The main body was real nice and shiny too. Price also around 320. No one here used weatherly shotgun before??

the mav 88 is identical to the mosberg 500 except the safety is on the trigger guard instead of the tang,EVERYTHING else is interchangeable. imo the mossy has just as many bbl's and other aftermarket options as remmington and probably cheaper. bbl length isn't gonna really matter too much if you have interchangeable chokes (I prefer shorter bbl's anyway) except for long shots say duck/geese or serious trap. depends on what feels better for you and how important the extra 75$ is, you could buy a fair amount of ammo with that. or find a used 88 for 75-100$. if they were the same price I'd buy the 870. but I scored 4 grouse on 1 covey flush with a mossy 500 12 ga, so a cheap gun can get the job done in a pinch. but you will always wish you had something better. my 2 cents.
