I had some type of parkerized finish on my Remington 770 30.06 that I traded. I beat the hell out of that thing and never had a problem with the finish, wish I could say the same for the rest of the rifle....

ILuv2Hunt, me neither... The CDL (.243) I have is just like the old "Classic 700" that they used to make in one caliber per year. One year .30-06, next 7x57, next .280 Rem etc.. The BDL DM walnut (7mm-08) I have was made prior to the CDL being offered, when they were still making the one caliber per year "Classic 700".

IMHO, the 700 ADL model was made to compete with the lower end rifle marketl, kinda like the "Express" line of 870's... I could be wrong, but that's the way it appears to me.

Not even sure they offer the ADL anymore since they have the 710 and 770, which is an entirely different firearm meant to compete with the lower end market...

If someone offered me either one for free, I would decline the offer

I agree, free is good!

My favorite shotgun I own is a Remington 870 Wingmaster LW Special Field 20 gauge with 23" VR Screw-in chokes with English Straight Stock. That gun has killed more Cottontail Rabbits, Ruffed Grouse, Grey Squirrels, Woodcock, and Pheasants than all of the rest of my shotguns put together. I'll bring it along to show you at that Dove Hunt in Polk County on 1 Oct., if he does it for $50 a head. She is a real beaty and shoots great. I broke 23 of 25 with her one time on the skeet field.

You would like my dads old 870 Wingmaster 16ga. When he moved to Fl from S Ga back in the 60's my granddad passed it to him. All dad did for many many years was quail hunt. He cut the stock down for quick sholdering, and had a poly choke installed. That gun alone has probably fired more shells than most people have fired a weapon combined

He used to buy 2 cases of shells at the time...just to get the season started :skeet
