Well gave up on the 44 and picked up a new Ruger Mini 30 in 7.62x39 today. Thank you Tim at Baywatch Arms for the great price and service. He also told me his transfer fee is $25 so I can deal with some of you S FL guys now much easier.
Can't wait to hear the "expert" opinion on this one...lol I know it it not everyones favorite gun but I will be using it as a truck/brush gun like I would a 30-30 or 44. Will buy a 1x4 or 6 scope on it, short and sweet for easy aquisition.

Had one, nice guns and works good for hogs and deer. Expert opinion. They can be had for about $475-550 in Stainless Synethic, hope you didn't pay more... You will be happy you went with the Stainless Synthetic instead of the Birch Blued guns... I am impressed for the second time by you today Frank! Put a 4X Burris on it, it'll run you another $300....
Gunboy you must be talking used, everywhere I looked new ones were 700 or more and used ones not less than 500. I got it for 525 out the door NEW, which is less than dealer cost, I saw what he paid for it. It is as pictured, stainless and synthetic. Now I need a deal on hollow point ammo!
