" versatility" imo would have to go to the 06 hands down for availability of different loads, both storebought and handloads and the different tyes of weapons it is made in.over the years I have come to the conclusion that there is no such thing as one gun does all. thats how you end up with 20 + rifles for deer hunting and still NEED more LOL. fisherman don't have 1 rod and reel and golfers don't have 1 club, so why should hunters.

Agree with the yank

Any other opinions you guys have about this I am all ears. I am new to the board and my dad always taught me "God gave you two ears and one mouth so you should listen twice as much as you talk"

For Florida style hunting, the 30-30 with lever revolutions, IMHo is the best caliber made. I have really come to love my 25-06 too. sooo many options

the 06 is old news, the .308, ammo everywhere, is the way to go between those 2 calibers. There is a reason the Army and Marine snipers switched to the .308 after many years with the 06. Nothing wrong with an 06 at all mind you, just old news...if you are buying for today and new. IMHO

Loved my 30-30 and I regret that I had to sell it. But I will have one again.
