Honestly, they do look that way. And I thought the same thing, and was very skeptical to buy one. But the size of it distributes the weight more evenly than just in one spot like most IWB holsters (so you don't look like Carlos with your britches hanging down around your knees from the gun pulling them down). I bought and returned several holsters for my .40, just could not find one to be comfortable. The crossbreed solved that problem. I carry a full sized 40 from the time I put my britches on till the afternoon and don't even notice it being there
