Nope, just a DD-214 any field, we all went through firearms training...is the way they feel.
My dad got his about 3 weeks ago. He went into the Punta Gorda office. He didn't have a dd214, he was in the FL National Guard and was discharged in late 50's. But they still accepted the discharge papers he had that showed him as marksman with M1 and sharpshooter with carbine. He got his permit 7 days later.
for me not having a military or leo background, it speeded things up paying the 10$ or so for the electronicly done fingerprints, so they didn't have to go by snail mail.got mine in fla in 04 or 05 in 2-3 weeks. in N.Y. it took over 8 months and a mtn of paperwork and they even interviewed neighbors. and that was just for permission to own, not conceal, to be used only for target / hunting or to be kept on premises. it was issued for one county only ( for me suffolk) and you were not allowed to carry it thru manhattan or any other state, so to legaly use it for hunting say upstate in the catskills you had to break the law by transporting it thru places you werent supposed to.
