I understand the implications but would have no problem letting them test my gun to catch a serial killer. Bottom line is I am a good guy and want to catch the bad guys, it is too bad it infringes on our rights and could lead to a bad situation.
catch 22 danged if you do danged if you dont and I agree "what will they do with the info" ! A law abiding gun owner should not have to validate their twisted efforts to abandon the law. Also would a serial killer or any criminal use their own legal bought fire arm to do such crimes, some would some would not.So I would have to say NO because once my info is recorded that is it!!
Knock knock......heck no!
now they can and do pull you over and write you up for no seat belt. "click it or ticket" my mechanic just got one while test driving a car. now about the serial killer, it's the police's responsibility to catch this guy while acting within the law. that said if they could come up with a way for 40 cal owners to anonymously give in a spent case/bullet to help rule out people, and help speed up the investigation then erase the persons name on a voluntary basis then maybe, but how much do you trust them with your info?
I do not agree with the method....HOWEVER no one ever wants to help the police or get involved until something dreadful happens to them. All records collected by the popo should be destroyed after invalidation.
