Nacho, I have a pancake leather Galco open face without thumb brake for the SIG 229 in .40 which goes on the belt outside the pants form fitted, but the gun is heavy and the leather is hot in 90 plus degree temps, works great in FL October-March. I need to find another 940 or start carrying the 637 in an ankle rig.
well I'm the type that sweats underwater or reading a book and have yet to find anything that I'm not gonna sweat in FL in the hotter months, either with or without a holster I'd be sweating anyway. stainless for the gun (for rust prevention) and nylon or fabric vs leather for the holster may be more comfortable, but I prefer leather and would rather deal with the extra heat and have what I prefer. but that's just me and have never tried the plastic ones yet. not a fan of ankle rigs cuz #1 you gotta wear long pants and 2 if you take your eyes off opponent or drop your head while drawing it and you are off balance standing on one leg and wide open for a kick to the head or worse. if you wear long pants daily and it is a backup (2nd gun) to your primary it might be a more viable option imo. look into the smartcarry (thunderwear) it makes my wife laugh and she says you'll shoot your jimmy off but for a guy without a belly hanging over his belt you can keep both feet planted and make a fast draw from a balanced position even if engaged hand to hand with someone at the time and they will conceal a surprisingly large gun and extra mag or gun/knife or gun/mace etc.
i carry both (different times sometime) g23c and a small 22 revolver so its all about mood thats why you have to have a few diff kinds so your not stuck with the same one every day but the compensated gun adds a decent effect thatll scare the shart outta most in its path when ya fire it the exhaust flame comes out barrel and top :2guns
before the castle doctrine a compensated tricked out gun, or a gun with a evil sounding name (python, cobra) or certain ammo (black talons/cop killers), engravings of skulls or skeletons or certain bad azz phrazes were a real liability in court and why I sold my tricked out/ported 3" sp-101 for a plain jane type and also why you shouldnt use handloads for self defense. even today if it ever went to court those things would be tried to be used against you.
