Got any before pics? I think I'm going to do this to one of my rifles... Just curious. What happens if you don't take the old blueing off and just degrease and blue over the existing finish?
TT, nice looking flintlock?, my Bro has an original 36 cal flintlock that was converted to primer ignition way back when with beautiful wood and needs re-blue/brown but think that will just destroy collector value. the primer cup is 1/2 eroded away but it's still fun to shoot.the makers name is on it, just need to do some research to try and find out it's true age, place of mfg (somewhere in new England, New Haven I'm guessing) and value. the gun was used in the film the mountain men with Brian Kieth and Charlton Heston as we were living in Colo when the film was made and knew a couple of the gunsmiths used on the film. the guns used on that film were some real nice examples of period b/p weapons.

no before pics but i had some nice rust spots on it. If you dont take the old blue off it will just touch up the old stuff .. will look "good enough".
Nacho is correct, I watched a pro gunsmith doing a rebluing and they called it HOT Bluing , according to thenm is is suppose to last longer... But yours Looks Great GOOD Job
