How old is your boy? That thing looks heavy.
jmo but I think all new shooters should start with single shots and learn the patience to wait for the right shot, shoot accurately and make each shot count. I think a gun like that for a new shooter sends the message it's OK to belong to the spray and pray club.
The reviews look good on it. Looks like a fun gun to play with and you can't argue with the price of ammo. This one made it to my list of toys to keep an eye out for. :rockon jmo but I don't see anything wrong with having more than 1 shot. Proper direction in the beginning is the key and not the amount of shells in the clip.
Looks like a solid weapon. No reason your first real rifle can't be semi-auto. Doesn't mean you have to hand them a full clip to start out. Hand them one round at a time and teach them how to load a single shot. Then move them up to 5 rounds at a time, then 10. That pretty much what they do in USAF basic training (or used to) to get everyone used to the weapon and to learn how to get a site picture, aim properly, control breathing, squeeze the trigger, etc.
