well nacho i have always wanted to build a m1903 sporter. I have my great grandfathers, it is a beautiful rifle, and i do not like to take it to the woods. my grgrampa was a machinist and very particular abouthis weapons, the weapons that have survived him are all beautiful collection pieces. he also left an 03 barrel, and a couple bolts, firing pins, springs, the magazine/trigger housing, and various other parts and pieces. all i really need for this project is a springfield armory reciever, a trigger and a stock. I want to build mine as a more modern tack driver. black composite stock, black barrel and reciever and bolt. modern scope. i want to have my name engraved like my great grandfathers so i have something to enjoy and pass down myself. would i be better off to wait and build this dream gun? i would probably take this to dow arms in dade city to be built. unless i could find someone to mentor me with my first build.

the mauser. the 03 springfield and rem 700 are prob the top 3 choices. savage is less expensive and easier to work with and will make good shooters. I have a rifle and pistol at Dows right now getting work done. if the springfield bbl is of sentimental value I don't think I'd try and put it on a mauser, might be like putting ketchup on a hot dog. I'd rather go with a modern bbl. no need for ketchup lovers to respond, lol.
