That's great! I too know that feeling, the 1st deer harvested on our own place. When we moved to our farm 48 years ago there were hardly any deer around. We had to go some distance down in the sandhills to run our hounds. Over the years the deer have moved in and now they are sometimes a pest in our yards and gardens. The other evening they destroyed several fall pumpkin vines within 100' of the house while they were foraging for sand pears also in the yard.
I still have a lease that I hunt but also I have killed several deer each year on this property since the first one on Thanksgiving Day, 2000!
