I think the whole point here is that the regulations are so confusing and ridiculous that alot of folks don't even bother with hunting in FL. Now I can hear it already from someone on the forum... "more hunting land for us", problem being less hunters, more liberals, more government regulation and eventually it's bow only, or muzzleloaders on fridays and saturdays only, or shotguns every third thursday from Oct-Jan. FWC needs to have there heads examined before one of the liberal lobbies go after there budget. How can 3 WMA's within a 20 mile radius have different rules?? The deer and hogs could potentially travel all three WMA's. What's the logic behind this?? I believe that FWC doesn't even know what the logic behind it is. It's ridiculous!!!!
Well its like this.. I follow this rule.. When you choose to hunt a wma GO TO MYFWC.COM and print out the pamphlet. That will end all confusion.
this is the problem. Alot of the places are either State owned, owned by SWTMD, or Privatly owned. Each entity makes their own rules for their property. Most owned by the same have the same rules. Most that are hog problem wmas are shotgun only. They dont want you shooting deer (which can be done but makes it harder).
I talked to a couple of FWC officers (who admittedly often know less than us) and their opinion was that a lot of shotgun only WMA's are also because either...
A: It's privately owned land and the owner keeps a home or business on premises and doesn't want a bullet shooting through their house from a gun fired a mile away.
-or-
B: Fears about afore mentioned bullet going through a nearby town or highway.
The reason for upper Hills being Shotgun only is the proximity to the houses. You can be in the stand and watch cartoons on the guys TV
