How long do you think I can keep pinfish alive in a 55 gal garbage can?? If I go out Tue. night anout 6PM and get my pins do you think they will last untill Wen. moning 6 AM.?
You got some kind of aerator or recirculating pump hooked to it? Pinfish are pretty hardy little buggers, but they tend to dirty up the water fast if there are too many, and they'll use up the oxygen pretty quick if you don't pump and spray it. You might also consider putting a frozen jug of water in there to lower the water temp and make them less active. That should give them a good 12-15 hours until you can get them back into a livewell. You'd never be able to keep greenbacks alive that long in a barrel, but pinfish can last a while.
No the only aerator I have is one of the little bait bucket ones. I need to go look I might have an old fish tank filter that I could hook to it. At 6 AM. I will have them in a 45 gal. live well.
i use to put any left over live bait in my dads pepsi machine and leave them over night. it would keep the bait, mostly shrimp and pinfish alive til i went out the next afternoon.
So a couple of ice jugs should give me a chance till morning.
