well see.. its very hard to beat the shimano sustane.. but ill give it a try!
I have some Okuma reels that have lasted through some harsh uses!
nope i don't buy in to it at all. i just maintain my reels properly. i have reels that are 10 - 12 yrs. old. never had problems with them. break them down twice a year, clean, oil and rinse them after every use.
now the rods, they are a different story. i buy new every year or so. unless i am forced too. warranty is only as good as the LAWYERS write it. besides they don't pay for shattered from over use. ie: too much pressure on big fish.
it is hard to beat a Calcutta or Penn reel.
Im a shimano stradic, sustain man myself.
i do Shimano Calcutta (bait casting) and Penn (spinning)
i have 4 calcuttas 100, 2- 150's and 250. 3 penn's 2- 4400 and 4300.
