Hunted day 1 with out seeing a deer other than one's flag. The 2nd morning was more of the same, and freezing cold. About 9 a.m. I was froze, and ready to leave when some squirrel started chattering. I looked to see a deer coming down my trail. It was a doe, and I drew on her. I was ready to shoot, and let down. I thought to myself I am hear to kill a buck, and I know 5 spots right next to the truck to kill a doe. I made a good decision. I let the 2 doe pass than looked to see 2 more deer coming. The next deer came running by, and was a doe. Than the buck came running up, and stopped behind a little bush. I did not like the shot so I waited as he grunted up a storm. I had a nice 15yd clear opening, but he started crossing it quite quick. I tried 2 mouth grunts before actually screaming at the deer to stop him. It worked giving me enough time to drop the pin on him, and let the arrow fly. I heard it crack him, and he bounded off. I sat back down, and proceded to watch 18 more deer come by over the next hour. I finally climbed down stepped off 24 yds to impact found my arrow covered in blood. Problem was not a lot on the ground. I had a hard time at first, and was running out of butt wipe to mark the blood. When I jumped a deer bedded on the trail. It ran off snorting like crazy, and I got this terrible feeling in my gut. Feeling sick to my stomach I decided to stand up. As I did a buzzard flew off the ground 50 yds in front of me. I walked straight to his take off point, and there layed my 8 pt. He was minus an eye, and when I skinned him later found that the buzzard had stuck its head inside the exit wound around the elbow on the front shoulder. He ate nearly 1/3 of the shoulder through the wound. The deer ended up weighing in at 116lbs, and I couldn't be pleased more. Here's a pic.

Wow! an hour and the buzzards were already on him. That's pretty fast. Nice buck though. You're on a roll this year. Was any of those 18 another buck?
