I agree with TerribleTed. I'm not for any more restrictions. In fact I think restrictions on private land need to be eased a bit. My friend who owns a 250 acre farm up in the panhandle has to get permission to shoot doe out of the normal doe season that eat up his feed corn. He can only get permits if folks from surrounding farms join in and the total land area is 600 acres or more. I think that's a bunch of nonsense. They have doe coming out of their ears up there every year and we go up to try and put a dent in them to help him out. So the less restrictions the better in my opinion. But I hunt for meat and not to put something on my wall. Not that I wouldn't shoot a nice buck but I don't mind shooting a nice spike either. The meat is better. :chef
I'm not in for more restrictions. It's hard enough to see a forked antler with a buck running across a road while doggin, much less count three on one side. Some members still intentionally shoot bigger spike bucks so they certainly will still shoot 2 on one side if it passes. I'm more worried about a strict season limit than shooting 3 on 1 side though. I definitely want to kill more than 2 bucks per year and don't believe in shooting does so I certainly wouldn't do that. The leases we use to hunt in Ga sucked after less than a few years of heavy doe shooting. That's a whole other topic of discussion though.
In contrast, more than half the bucks I kill have 3 on 1 side anyway so it wouldn't affect my hunting much.
at this point I can't really come up with an answer that would please everyone from the, if it's brown it's down to the trophy only hunters. I do think if the FWC had more $ by keeping $ spent in other states here in Fl, then they could put more leos, biologists and data collection systems in place that would improve enforcement of current laws and help them improve things for all of us. similar to saying buy American, I say hunt FL. if you are gonna complain about what the fwc comes up with and not help them by providing them with info that you know and they don't, it's like complaining about the president and not voting. my 2 cents.

The problem with Fl is we're limited by poor soils and inferior genetics which will keep trophy hunters looking elsewhere. No way to change that but pack up and go where they grow them bigger naturally. If I hunted purely antlers there's no way I would stay around Fl unless money was tight.
I've heard the poor soil bit and am not buying it, no offense but if it can carry more cows than texas and have a huge agricultural industry, how bad could it be? not to mention all the food plots and corn we put out. sandy soil near salt water holds tons of minerals that grow big racks, in N.Y. the biggest racks are found along the beaches of Long Island.gentics you may have a point to some degree but huge racked deer have been taken here before, so the genes can't be entirely gone, they may just have to be able to reach the 5-7 years of age to grow them. or import some studs from texas for breeders and dye them orange lol. I haven't heard of any state that instituted a deer improvement plan that was not effective. imo the difficulties are the state has such diversity of habitat and very poor enforcement of existing laws and data collection. how can you fix something if you don't know where it's broke. some of us like down 4 the count, hogdaddy, skunkape and John L seem to do pretty good here. if things here are just fine, why do those of you go to Georgia? is it the nice long drive and gas prices, the expensive out of state license, prefer to hunt 100's of miles away rather than near our homes, or just like giving money to another state. good or bad this is now my home and where I plan on hunting.if I were rich and able to get away and travel, would I, sure, to Alaska,South America,New Zealand. certainly not a neighboring state.
