Had a fun day today. Started off in the WMA. Lugged the climber in about 1000 yards and got set up way before daylight.Was drenched in sweat, and the last band of rain dumped on me. Beautiful morning, but did not see anything till 0945. Had 5 deer come in and feed on live oaks on a little ridge. 2 does and 3 yearlings. They stayed for an hour feeding. 2 of the does came to attention and were watching across the slough I was in. I heard a buck coming grunting every breath. He hit my wind, blew one time and was gone before I ever saw him
Sat till noon, got down, ate some vienna sausages and went to another creek to slip hunt. TONS of tracks since the rain. I almost went to that creek too. Left there, made the 10 minute ride to my lease and sat in a stand till 3. Took a power nap in the truck and got in my afternoon stand at 4, sat till almost dark. Went to my truck and I heard hogs at another feeder close to where I was parked. I eased in there and there was 10 of them. Pushed the safety off, put the + on one of the big ones shoulder crease....and decided I didn't want to clean a hog tonight.
Put the safety back on and left them standing there. Caught the last 10 minutes of the UGA/Gata game on the radio. Go Dawgs!
Uneventful for us pretty much. I haven't seen anything from the stand. Got a nice 6 pt on the cam Friday at 5...passing by my favorite stand. Youngest had a couple does under him yesterday a bear walk under him also. Stopped at the bottom of the ladder looked up at him then moved on. Other boy choose FSU/Miami over us yesterday...he's here today...chased me out of my favorite spot. I'm in the climber about 300 ft away and swear I hear him snoring 🙂
