I'm pretty new to hunting too so I have no real advice I can give you.
One thing I have learned this year is that most deers and hogs move between hours of sun set to sun rise with majority of movements during the night. It is very rare to see deers or hogs during daylight hours. I would try to get out to some likely spots before sun rise to see if you see any animals and then again at the end of the day.
Good luck to you.
