I am new to this area and was curious as to where a good start might be for me to get started on some public land for deer hunting? Of course if any of you have private land in this area I'll gladly hunt that as well. LOL
I am just ready to get started scouting and have a location by opening day of bow season if possible... Thanks...

You're on a good place to start - Eglin! Get over to the Jackson Guard station and get all your info. There's also Pine Log and Point Washington WMA's over north of Panama City, where we got a few other members who might help you get into it up there.
Check out Eglin. I hunted there quite a few years ago and saw plenty of game. Make sure and get an area map and watch which section you are in. I was hunting the gun side and somehow crossed over to the archery side and was read the riot act by a MP when I came out to a dirt road carrying my 30-30. If I remember right we didn't get our pass for the area until right before the season started and there were still some left. We've got a few members up that way that are good guys and can maybe lead you in the right direction.
Blackwater WMA. You can not go wrong. They have a late rut out that way, and some of the nicest deer herds in the state.
