What about snake boots? Do a lot of you guys wear them? Sorry not to hijack the thread or anything but just wondering.

I gave up on them. Tired of wet feet. Now I use Muck boots and snake gaiters

No snake boots, but after seeing five pigmy rattlers in two days of hunting Tosohatchee, I'm considering it.

One thing I made for myself this year is a 35' tree rope. I got a 50' length of camo rope from Wal-Mart and tied a loop knot in one end. I took about a 5' length of the rope and tied a prusik knot on the tag end of the long rope. At the end of the prusik I tied a figure eight knot and slapped a caribbeaner inside the two ends before the figure eight. I now have a 35' tree rope just like the $40 ones HSS sells for about $15. I use the tag end to pull my bow/gun up to my treestand. I'm always attached to tree when climbing and the loop knot snare is always going to clinch down on the tree if I fall. If I fall I can pull the prusik for a slow descent. Worth checking into making your own tree rope. I'll never leave it in the truck.

Maybe I'll post a how to on this...
