I had the most luck when hunting a group of persimmon trees as they tend to drop around bow season and alot of deer will come and check the trees frequently. The secret is just to follow your trails until you find where the deer are feeding. Normally the persimmon trees I was use to hunting are beat down with sign 2 weeks before the bow season opens and easy to spot.
The deer you see coming from the fruit groves are mainly eating on the new growth(leaves) of the re-set trees. The deer dont really eat much fruit but the hogs will tear the fruit up.i have watched the hogs go from tree to tree and pull oranges off trees and eat them.
I sat and watched does eat a pile of persimmons until the wandered into range then i gave them some carbon 2 in one day. I use to split the gut on deer to see what they ate yes they eat the fruits big time.
Up north the deer eat apples right off the trees in my mom yard she sits and watches them.
The poachers way of catching a deer is to use a treble hook on a steel cable and an apple. They would place it were the deer would have to stand up to grab it. The animal is almost helpless when on it back legs and the body extended.
a trebble hook for deer? that's about the sickest in the head thing I've ever heard of. should hang them from a tree with a trebble hook thru their peckers. I thought cutting a cats feet, hooking it and going for shark was bad.
Anyone that does that needs an ass whippin, and if I ever saw someone doing that I would administer one. They probably should be locked in a cell and the key tossed.
If someone(won't refer to them as a human) will do that to a deer, what are they doing to their wife and kids and pets?
Sickening...
