my son's first buck

fri.morning we head up to lake george wma. my son drops me off where i am going to hunt then goes to his spot,don't see anything all morning,he sends me a text that he was going to get down from his stand around 3:00 if he didn't see anything by then,around 2:40 i start climbing down from the tree i am in and i hear a gun shot,then my phone starts buzzing,it's my son telling me he just shot a monster,so i told him as soon as i got my stand packed up i would start heading his way and that it would take me about 20 min.to get him,he tells me he wasn't at the spot that he was hunting all morning that he was about a1/4 mile down the road from me,by the time i got to his truck he had the buck in the bed with a smile from ear to ear,we both looked like fools doing the happy dance in the middle of the road,he said he was driving down the road and just happened to see this buck standing in the open,stopped,shut his truck off,pulled the keys out the ignition,and grabbed his 30.06 and the deer just stood there looking at him,he ranged it at 100 yrds.,calmed himself down the best he could and fired the shot,the buck dropped never taking a step,then a doe that was bedded down in front of the buck jumped up ran a few steps,stopped and looked back at the buck then ran off,the buck was a 150lb. 8 point with a 15 1/2" spread,made my 6 pt. that i got during archery season look tiny,but all is good,he took it to the taxidermist on sat. will try to post some pics.
