I was done early on Friday so I called my buddy and asked him if he was ready . He was swamped with work and couldn't get off till 3 . We were on our way at 4pm . We got there at 5:50 , was too late to setup in our spot without screwing it up . So we decided to do a little driving the roads and see what we could stumble on . Saw one hog , too far and too big to drag , we passed him up . Saw 2 small illegal bucks and some does . Well it was a good afternoon , we headed to the motel and met up with some buddies . Sat I setup on the same area I killed the 7Pt in archery . The moon was bright , got setup and waiting for daybreak . As the sun started peakin I looked to the pines 30 yards infront and I had neighbors . 3 nice gobblers and 2 hens in another pine . The morning started with fog and didn't see anything , at 10 I climbed down and worked my way slowly through the woods . I jumped 2 does and saw some goods rubs . The afternoon was pretty good , saw 7 does , spike , and 5 gobblers dragging their beards . My buddy had an encounter with the buck we were after and blew it . On his way in buck jumped out 30 yards infront of him , he raised his gun . All he could see was his neck , squeezed the trigger no boom , he forgot to take off the safety . Buck was gone in a split second . I decided to move to another area I had seen some bucks in archery . After 1/2 a mile walk with climber , backpack and rifle through high grass and a flagpond I was beat . Finally I was setup and skeeters were bad . Daybreak came and I had a doe feeding 150 yards infront in a flagpond . Then 2 more to the right at 250 yards , not bad . I was glassing the area when I see 2 other deers about 500 yards working their way to me , by the way they were walking I kind of knew they were bucks but a light fog made it hard to figure out . They made it to an oak 450 yards out with some myrtles around and started rubbing and trashing the myrtles . Well I knew now they were bucks but that's a long way for a shot . Few minutes later a hog pops out 100 yards infront , I said buddy today is your lucky day , you get a free pass . 2 other does that were bedded get up and head to where the bucks were now they had bed down . 45 minutes later one doe steps out and bucks get up and come out . They are 380 yards out , they begin to spar for a few minutes . Few minutes and they get a little closer , 321 yards , but the doe starts heading away and the smaller bucks follows . I ranged the bigger one , 321 yards . I rested my 30-06 against my climber , put the crosshairs about 2 inches above his back and squeezed the trigger , boom . All I saw was the buck disappear in the grass . I knew he dropped right there . I got down and made my way to where he was . The doe came back and was standing looking down and I see some antlers moving . I eased slowly to him and saw I had spined him , I reshot him through his ribs and he was done . Holy crap that was a far shot . Thank you lord for putting another infront of me . Luckely 2 buddies came over and carted him out while I got my climber out . 7Pt , 115 lbs and my longest shot .

You just keep impressing and depressing me at the same time! LOL
