what is a good breed of dog to have to track deer after they have been shot and run off? i havent had this problem yet, but if i were to get another dog i would want one that can be trained to do so

Most any dog could be trained for it but I would go for a Lab or a Beagle.

My first 2 choices also. There's a lot of labs around here that track. I would prefer a beagle because most seem to have a colder nose and tend to be calmer than a lab. Both of my friend's labs picked it up very quickly though. There will be pros and cons for every breed though.

ridgebacks are great also and big enough to finish off whatever you wound. People at my lease have one, he will go anywhere and has never lost an animal that was truly injured.
