First Whitetail Ever

After hunting blacktail and mule deer on the west coast my whole life I got stationed here in Jacksonville and got my first shot at hunting whitetails this year. It's been a long, frustrating season so far but finally turned around a little bit this morning.

Five minutes before 9:00, this little guy walked down the trail I was watching from my stand. One shot from the trusty .30-06 and it didn't end well for him. Never took a step, just dead right there. Gotta love the quick, humane kill and easy tracking job! :rockon Anyhow, nothing big at all, just a six point but I'll take it! Should make for some good eats anyway.
