For those that are concerned that this deer was poached or taken out of season this is what it was. The deer was hit by a car at 5:45 A.M in the morning. The driver made an attempt to find it but it ran off. It was hit in front of Myakka park on hyway 72 in Sarasota county. It was a sunny hot day. I was called to track it @ 4:45 P.M and thats what I did. I tracked it for about six hundred yards and found it. After locating it I made a call to FWC. He was in town and said he could be there in 20 minutes. He asked if I would go back and shoot the deer. I loaded the gun and went back in and shot it. By the time he arrived I had the deer out to the road. It was taken to the same place I take my boar hogs (Big Cat Habbitat) If you look in the picture you can see the FWC officers tailgate. I hated to see a nice deer go like that but I feel good that he did not suffer for days with a broken leg. I call it a mercy killing. For Bodysnatcher and the two FWC officers that frequent the site thanks for your concern but it was all leagle and on the up and up. Niether me or my dad spotlight shoot animals out of traps bait animals or hunt out of season or drink and hunt .I would not be stupid enough to post that. As for the Florida cracker outlaw in my profile that is a friends t-shirt company.

Sounds like a bull crap story to me. SO it was hit and you know exactly what time? The driver had your number on speed dial? and then you were called to track it by who? the driver? Sure wasnt FWC beause you state "you called them after you so called tracked it" I doube FWC would let you do that anyway. Thats their job and what they do . FWC would be all over it. And you say "First Deer Of the Year"? LOL You aint kill it. The guy who hit it did and its road kill. You say after you Went into the woods on someones property and found it THEN you made a call to FWC, So that means you were already planning on "taking care of this deer" on your own. And they will NEVER give you permission to shoot a OUT OF SEASON deer. You changed this story twice and both times its seems like bull crap. Silver tailgate! Classic. FWC pick up right? I know alot of people with silver pickups. :noway: :thumbs down:
Why didn't you just take it home and put it in the freezer? I got a nice 7pt. last year that was hit by a rock hauler in down town Brooksville Didn't splatter it just knocked in the head, didn't even break the horns. The trucker helped me load it in my pick-up.
supposibly it was wounded and the person went and shot it. So it was basically not really road kill in a sense.
The deer in the photo definitly has a broken leg.
