I'm not trying to be argumentative here but one legal type of hunter shouldn't IMO be pointing fingers at another. blaming stand hunters for the decline of deer populations is really IMO incorrect.yes stand hunters kill more deer overall than dog hunters, only because there are more of them. now I readily admit to being new to fla hunting and have never dog hunted for deer or hog, but from posts on this site alone I'd have to say if given 2 groups of equal #'s of hunters, one stand hunters and one group using dogs, the dog hunters will kill more deer in a year than the stand hunters. mainly because it takes a lot more skill , time and involvement to train and run dogs. any nimrod can buy a stand and set it up 50 feet from his truck,as I believe a great majority of the stand hunters are nowhere near as experienced hunters as the doggers. look at this contest we are having it appears most kills are being made by dog hunters ( I may be totally wrong and mods please feel free to give the exact #'s). IMO any decline in deer populations is more affected by poachers and legally taken deer that are not reported, and the fact that the fwc's #'s may be totally wrong as I suspect, as a lot of people don't fill out those kill cards they mail you, they have no idea how many animals are being poached and are setting limits using faulty data.

You gonna be in Apalach NF this weekend Flhunter82? There's 3 of us debating if we want to go or not. We are thinking about hunting around the shooting range as that's the area my buddy from Crawfordvillle knows best.
