I have a monster whitetail that was killed in Montana in 1971. When I say monster, I mean it was a 300lb+ deer and is in the 160" class. It was mounted by Jonas Bros in Denver Co at the time.

This deer has some very long hair on it. I noticed this winter that the brisket hair is starting to slip. I take all the deer heads down when we have a fire in the fireplace so that is how I noticed it
Is there anything that can be done to stop the hair slippage ?
Also the mount looks very "dull".. Do you think a touch up of air brushing and so forth would be a good idea??
Its the middle deer in this pic to give you an idea

Not sure about the slipping problem at this stage of an older mount, but I will check around and see what I can find out for you. As far as touching up, that shouldn't be a problem as long as it is handled with care. One other consideration may be to not overdo the retouch so much that it looks out of place on the older mount...probably no big deal, just wouldn't go overboard with it or it might not look right.

The hair slipping has the mount ever been "wet" or near a damp area this can cause hair to slip.

Been hanging on the fireplace since 1971, in the same spot
