Hey lookin for alittle help folks. Just moved to Lecanto from Alachua and now I live right across the street from Citrus WMA. I'm on 44, the northern boundry just about in the middle of the WMA. Anyone out there hunt Citrus? Any luck? Any pointers you could send my way would be appreciated- THANKS in Advance :toast
I like the wma, the check station is in the N.E. corner, shouldn't be too far from you but are not open alot. my advice would be to get a map of the wma a usgs map if possible and scout/scout and scout some more. some of the trails are overgrown/narrow, deeply rutted and cell reception is sketchy, 4x4 is req'd in some places, so go slow until you know the area and expect some scratches on the paint.
You need to get to scouting. I'll be there for some of archery so get the room ready! :tequila
The North end up by the landfill is a bit thicker and there tends to be some really good bucks come from there. Use google earth and try to find some funnel areas. Anywhere is pretty good, just use other hunters to your advantage. I see the majority of my deer after 10AM in there
I love Citrus :toast just try to avoid the other people and find a quiet corner of the WMA
