I've driven by there alot along lecanto hwy from 98. where is the check in station? I've always wanted to give it a try in there. hows the hogs in there?
The check station is off of FR10 all the way at the east end by Holder Mine campsite.
And o yea just about everyone hunts south of stage coach.
Also with the thread about the roads in Citrus, I havent found one yet that was fixed. The only I havent looked at yet was FR14. Ill check it out this next weekend during the gun hunt :toast
Yea theres some hogs there, the majority of them are south of stagecoach though. Hunted near a pond on saturday evening that was all wallowed up and full of fresh hog sign. The north side just isnt the right terrain for them
My dad and I I hunted south of Stagecoach this weekend and Saturday we stayed in the tree all day (Long time to be in one spot) and we both saw some doe's at noon and then I saw one at dark. Sunday was a bust and we saw nothing. The weather being hot and cloudy did not help matters at all.
Sunday at lunch we road by the check station and there were only 12 deer checked in. The guy who killed the big 10pt in archery had killed a nice 8 pt. Talked with one guy who said someone shot a doe on Saturday near him and the doe ran in front of him and died. They did not report it from what I know of.
12 deer taken out of 600 hunters or so is not good at all.
Was reading in some of the FWC stuff that they are thinking about removing quota permit hunts from Citrus. Would be wide open during the seasons...
