I'd imagine that is a genetic melanin disorder. That deer seems to display almost 100% of them melanism trait, pretty neat, as a lot of times melanism doesn't fully "penetrate" and you get a mixture of colors. I bet the fawn will lighten up some as it gets older, but hopefully it gets a chance to pass on it's genetics, as these things don't pop up very often.

Similar to the piebald condition seen more frequently, correct? Anyway it's pretty cool.
